Construction of a Simplified Wood Gas Generator - For Fueling Internal Combustion Engines in a Petroleum Emergency. This report is one in a series of emergency technology assessments sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The purpose of this report is to develop detailed, illustrated instructions for the fabrication, installation, and operation of a biomass gasifier unit (that is, a "producer gas" generator, also called a "wood gas" generator) which is capable of providing emergency fuel for vehicles, such as tractors and trucks, in the event that normal petroleum sources were severely disrupted for an extended period of time.
Slow Sand Filtration - Under suitable circumstances, slow sand filtration may be not only the cheapest and simplest but also the most efficient method of water treatment. Its advantages have been proved in practice over a long period, and it is still the chosen method of water purification in certain highly industrialized cities as well as in rural areas mid small communities. It has the great advantage over other methods that it makes better use of the local skills and materials.
DIY Smoker Plans - Instructions for Building a VITA Stove - By Samuel F. Baldwin, ?Biomass Stoves: Engineering Design, Development, and Dissemination?, 1987
Nimblewill Nomad's "Little Dandy" - is a collapsible stove that can be made form steel, titanium or thick aluminum sheet and the type and thickness of the metal you use will determine how much this stove ends up weighing. This stove is nice since it collapses nicely for ease of packing and uses fuel found on the trail. Please note that galvanized steel is never recommended since it releases poisonous heavy metals into the air when heated.
Rocket Bread Oven Construction Manual - In the developing world, biomass is a major energy source. It is used in all levels of society from house hold use to the commercial sector. The large and growing need for biomass has created problems including deforestation and point of use health concerns. Deforestation has increased the scarcity of biomass and increased its price. Burning wood in traditional methods is ineffective in both heating and combustion.
Simple Plans To Build The Justa Stove - The Justa (pronounced Hu-sta) stove was developed through the coordinated efforts of the people of Central America, Trees, Water, and People, Rotary International and Aprovecho Research Center.
